What is GRE?

Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is a computer-based adaptive exam administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS), a non-profit organization. It is a standardized assessment to measure students' competency along with the academic record for admissions in business, law, and graduate schools around the globe. 

The test has different sections to evaluate the candidates' skills in analytical writing, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning. Scoring high marks on the test will help the student to get admission to the program and university in which the student is interested. The score validity of the GRE is five years. The aspirants can take the test once every 21 days up to 5 times within 12 months from the date of the first test taken.

Total Test Duration: 3 hours, 45 minutes

Score Range: 260–340

Additional Fees for test score reporting: US $27

Analytical Writing Section: This section contains one analysis of an argument and one analysis of an issue essay questions with a time limit of 60 mins (30 minutes per question). The score range is 0 to 6.

Verbal Reasoning: This section is divided into two sub-sections with 20 questions each and 30 minutes allotted to each section. The score range is 130 to 170. The type of questions in this section includes text completion, sentence equivalence, and reading comprehension.

Quantitative Reasoning: This section is divided into two sub-sections with 20 questions each and 35 minutes allotted to each section. The score range is 130 to 170. The type of questions in this section includes quantitative comparison and problem-solving questions.
